What is microblading?

Microblading is THE way to get the best brows of your life. If you're not familiar with the term, microblading is a semi-permanent makeup technique that has the ability to give shape and definition, where it's lacking, and shave valuable time off your daily makeup routine. It’s all about creating the best shape for each individual face; a totally bespoke approach for each client.

Forget a basic brow gel or pencil, they are no match for the mighty microblading. In my eyes no other treatment is as good in terms of time saving, money saving and finesse. For those who struggle to draw on matching brows or got carried away with the tweezers in the 90s or 00s – a semi-permanent fix might be just the solution needed.

The actual technique of implanting pigment in fine incisions into the skin is very old but gained much of its popularity for being used to transform eyebrows in Asia, with the eyebrow feathering or eyebrow embroidery effect. Now commonly known as microblading, it is essentially tattooing, but involves using a specialised and delicate manual hand tool. The process is very precise thanks to the tool that is used which is effectively like a pen with the nib being a blade with 10-14 little needles at the end.

Rather than giving you a block of colour like traditional tattooing, the micro blades create channels that allow you to implant pigment into the dermal layer of the skin. This creates the finest of hair strokes which is why those in the search of brow perfection prefer it - The results are amazingly realistic.

Many beauticians class it as semi-permanent, but with regular top-ups, normally every 12 months, and a great aftercare routine, it can last a lifetime. It's great for those with alopecia or people who have gone through chemotherapy, or just for anyone who is keen to up their brow game.
